| Xu Kai Reappears After Cheating Scandal — Actor Spotted Calm and Smiling at Shenzhen Airport |
After nearly two months of silence, Chinese actor Xu Kai (许凯) has finally stepped back into the public eye.
Once known for his soft-hearted romantic image in dramas like Story of Yanxi Palace, Best Choice Ever, and As Beautiful As You, Xu Kai’s career took a heavy hit earlier this year after he was accused of both infidelity and illegal activity.
The controversy exploded when actress Xu Lisha (of New Life Begins) claimed that she had once dated Xu Kai and accused him of cheating with actress Zhao Qing during separate filming projects.
She further alleged that their relationship had been unhealthy and distressing.

Around the same time, well-known paparazzo Baixiaosheng came forward with claims that Xu Kai had been hosting private ilegal activity sessions with friends since 2021 — allegedly starting during his Snow Eagle Lord shoot with Guli Nazha and continuing while he filmed As Beautiful As You in 2023.
The accusations caused massive damage to his public image.
His then-airing drama Moonlit Reunion faced online backlash, and Xu Kai completely withdrew from public activities.
Instead, all responses were handled by his manager and agency head Yu Zheng, who reportedly spent weeks calming down investors and sponsors, according to WZ Gossip Boy via Baijiahao Baidu.

Despite the chaos, Xu Kai’s career wasn’t fully destroyed. With several completed dramas already in post-production — including A Cup of Love, Fire Investigator, and 800 Meters — and with no criminal charges officially filed, the actor quietly went off the radar.
His agency allegedly advised a “cool-off” period to allow public sentiment to settle.
On October 6, during the Mid-Autumn Festival period, Xu Kai was spotted at Shenzhen Airport dressed head-to-toe in black.

Fans who recognised him described his demeanour as calm and relaxed — he even waved and smiled while heading toward his departure gate.
Reports suggest he was travelling to Hengdian, Zhejiang, to begin work on his upcoming costume drama The Order of the Wind (听风令).

Earlier gossip hinted that XuKai might be replaced by Lost You Forever star Deng Wei due to the negative publicity, but negotiations reportedly broke down since Deng Wei only accepts main-lead roles.
Xu Kai, already under contract as the male lead, retained his spot after Yu Zheng mediated between the production and investors.
Industry sources believe Xu Kai’s latest appearance signals the beginning of his career recovery.
With Yu Zheng’s help smoothing over ties between advertisers and drama producers, Xu Kai seems to have successfully stabilised his standing in the entertainment circle.
While his reputation is still under quiet repair, Xu Kai’s re-entry into work mode suggests the industry isn’t ready to shut its doors on him.
The Order of the Wind could mark his official comeback — and perhaps, a slow but steady redemption arc for one of China’s most recognisable faces from the post-Yanxi generation.
