Chinese actor Xu Kai has once again found himself in the middle of a messy online storm, after actress Xu Lisha—rumoured to be his ex-girlfriend—publicly revealed details of their past relationship.
According to Xu Lisha, Xu Kai had once been ready to officially acknowledge their romance, but was advised against it, with warnings that the move could affect both her and her family.
She further claimed that Xu Kai’s longtime agent, Yu Zheng, was well aware of their relationship.

Fans Unimpressed with the Timing
The timing of her revelations has not gone down well. Netizens are criticising Xu Lisha for speaking out just as Xu Kai and actress Tian Xiwei are promoting their on-screen couple image for the ongoing drama Moonlit Reunion.

Fans argue that Xu Lisha’s sudden disclosures risk damaging the drama’s popularity and Xu Kai’s professional commitments, with some also blaming the actor for failing to shield his projects from such off-screen controversies.
Interestingly, eagle-eyed fans also pointed out that Xu Lisha once appeared in New Life Begins—a drama where Tian Xiwei played the female lead—though her role at the time was minor.
Xu Lisha Strikes Back
Rather than stepping back, Xu Lisha has continued to push her claims. In a pointed post, she hinted there is “more to the cheating allegations” and even shared private photos and chat logs to back up her story.
When Yu Zheng denied the dating rumours outright—stating Xu Kai is single, dismissing the claims as “fake news,” and revealing police reports had already been filed—Xu Lisha clapped back again.

“Am I supposed to be arrested just for saying I was cheated on and scolded for being in a relationship?” she wrote, insisting she was not Xu Kai’s “current girlfriend” but an ex, claiming they split in late 2022.

Yu Zheng’s Counter-Response
Yu Zheng, known for being outspoken, did not hold back either. He suggested Xu Lisha’s timeline was inconsistent, pointing out that she alternated between calling for an “official announcement” and saying they broke up years ago.
He questioned her motives, hinting that the sudden outburst after years of silence looked suspiciously like clout-chasing.
“If this was truly about love, it should have ended long ago. If it was bitterness, the exposure would have come earlier. Why now?” he asked, making it clear he believes the issue has been stirred for publicity.

Yu Zheng added that the case has already been handed to the authorities, stating firmly: “I never start trouble, but I don’t fear it. Good and bad will eventually be repaid.”
