Chinese actress Zhao Qing has officially broken her silence after her name was dragged back into a controversy that refuses to die down. This week, her studio issued a statement on social media, firmly rejecting claims that she was romantically involved with actor Xu Kai or played the role of a third party in his past relationship.
Studio Statement: “Zhao Qing Is Single”
According to the statement, Zhao Qing is currently single and has no romantic connection with Xu Kai. Labelling her as a “mistress,” “third party,” or “secret girlfriend” was described as completely false and harmful to her reputation.
The studio also stressed that evidence has been collected and legal action could be pursued against those spreading defamatory content.

The Zhao Qing–Xu Kai rumours originally surfaced in December 2022, when Chinese gossip outlets published blurry photos and clips allegedly showing Xu Kai meeting a woman at a train station.
The woman was seen hugging him, acting playfully, and later heading hand-in-hand to a hotel where they reportedly stayed overnight before he accompanied her back the following day.
Speculation immediately swirled over the woman’s identity. At the time, gossip pages claimed she was an actress with a two-character name.
Adding fuel to the fire, producer Yu Zheng—who manages Zhao Qing—posted glamour shots of her on Weibo with the caption: “I’ve been waiting for this moment, and here it is! Let’s gather and admire her beauty!”
Many fans connected the dots, suspecting Zhao Qing was the mystery woman. Neither Xu Kai nor Zhao Qing publicly addressed the matter then, leaving the story to linger online.

Xu Lisha’s Revelation Rekindles Gossip
The scandal reignited this week after actress Xu Lisha revealed she once dated Xu Kai. She said their relationship ended in late 2022, coinciding with the hotel rumours. Her admission sparked renewed speculation that Zhao Qing was the so-called “other woman” blamed for the breakup.
