Following the show’s official renewal in April 2026, Season 3 is now expected to arrive sometime during fall 2026, continuing the story of widowed mechanic Matt Parker and the increasingly exhausting emotional balancing act happening under his roof.
The sitcom-drama hybrid has quietly built a loyal audience by mixing family tension, awkward romance, workplace humour and the sort of emotional conversations that somehow always happen near car engines. At the centre of it all remains Tim Allen’s stubborn but vulnerable Matt and Kat Dennings’ Riley, whose father-daughter relationship still feels like two people arguing over who actually controls the TV remote while pretending the issue is much deeper than that.
Shifting Gears Season 2 ended by throwing several emotional curveballs into the Parker household all at once. The biggest shift came when Matt finally admitted to himself that Eve is genuinely important to him.
