Li Xian is heading into 2026 with serious momentum. After a strong 2025 run packed with well-received dramas, the actor is lining up two very different new projects that highlight his growing range and a more layered, adult screen presence. From romance with emotional depth to a darker, fate-driven mystery, these upcoming series are shaping up to be some of the most talked-about Chinese dramas of the year.

Born on 19 October 1991 in Jingzhou, Hubei, Li Xian trained professionally at Beijing Film Academy and steadily built his career through standout roles in Who Sleeps My Bro, Medical Examiner Dr. Qin, Tientsin Mystic, Only Side by Side with You, Go Go Squid! and Sword Dynasty

In 2025 alone, he stayed fully booked with Flourished Peony, A Love Never Lost, and In the Name of Blossom, all of which performed solidly and kept his popularity firmly intact.

Yang Guang Xian Sheng is a modern romance drama that leans into warmth, emotional growth, and everyday realism.

Spanning 45 episodes, this iQIYI original pairs Li Xian with Yang Chaoyue, a combination that has already sparked curiosity among fans.

The drama is a remake of the 2017 Taiwanese series My Dear Boy, produced by Ruby Lin, but the Chinese version is expected to localise the story with a more mature tone and updated character dynamics.

In this project, Li Xian is tipped to portray a calmer, more grounded male lead, moving away from youthful impulsiveness and into a phase that reflects emotional responsibility and quiet resilience.

The romance is said to focus less on dramatic twists and more on character connection, life choices, and personal healing.

With its planned release in late 2026 or possibly early 2027, this drama is shaping up to be a slow-burn favourite rather than a flashy crowd-pleaser.

If Yang Guang Xian Sheng shows Li Xian’s softer side, A Prophet goes in the complete opposite direction.

This 24-episode series blends suspense, period drama, and psychological intrigue, airing on both iQIYI and Tencent Video.

Directed by Yang Lei, the drama stars Li Xian, Li Yitong, Wu Gang, Guo Jinglin, and Liu Guanlin, forming a cast built for intensity and layered storytelling.

Li Xian plays Shang Guan Cheng Ming, a wealthy young man whose life collapses following a chain of unsettling events tied to fate, deception, and hidden agendas.

What begins as a tragic family mystery slowly evolves into a larger confrontation with an organisation that manipulates belief systems for its own gain.

As the story unfolds, his character shifts from grief-stricken survivor to a man driven by truth and justice, giving Li Xian plenty of space to explore emotional extremes and internal conflict.

Adapted from the novel Wo Shi Ge Suan Ming Xian Sheng by Yi Zhi, A Prophet is expected to be heavier in tone, with a strong focus on atmosphere, moral ambiguity, and character transformation. Slated for release sometime in 2026, this drama could easily become one of Li Xian’s most discussed performances to date.

With one romance-led remake and one dark, fate-centred mystery on the way, Li Xian’s 2026 slate feels carefully balanced and strategically chosen.

Both dramas suggest a deliberate move toward more complex storytelling and roles that prioritise depth over easy charm. More updates are expected as production progresses, and schedules remain subject to change.

So, which one has your attention more right now: the emotional realism of Yang Guang Xian Sheng or the gripping intensity of A Prophet?
