Shuna Amamiya’s situation has grown even more complicated following revelations that she was impregnated by the ex-boyfriend of Pretty Chuu’s producer and influencer Yurinya. While many fans initially expressed sympathy, a noticeable wave of online backlash has since emerged, with some netizens turning against her and questioning her actions, adding further pressure to an already difficult chapter in her career.
Former Pretty Chuu member Shuna Amamiya has announced the cancellation of her upcoming 20th birthday celebration, making a difficult but firm decision to put safety above everything else. What was meant to mark her fresh start as a solo idol has instead turned into a sobering reminder of the pressures public figures still face online.
The birthday event, scheduled for 11 January, was officially called off after multiple threatening messages were received through social media replies and private messages.
According to the statement released by her management, the decision was made after careful consideration of the safety of fans, performers, and staff involved in the event.
Shuna Amamiya, now 20, personally addressed fans on Twitter, apologising sincerely for the cancellation. She shared that she had spent a long time preparing for the celebration and was genuinely looking forward to meeting everyone.
Despite her disappointment, she stressed that protecting the people who support her was the only choice she could make.

The cancelled event was meant to be more than just a birthday celebration. It was positioned as Shuna’s first major step forward as a solo idol following her departure from Pretty Chuu in August 2025. She later signed an agent contract with One Life in December, with the birthday festival intended to symbolise a new chapter in her career.
In her message, Shuna Amamiya reassured fans that this setback would not stop her activities. She confirmed she will continue posting regularly on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, while also placing stronger focus on YouTube content moving forward.
She hinted at larger projects in the works and promised to deliver even more engaging content than before.
Her former group, Pretty Chuu, had previously been surrounded by controversy last year, which ultimately led to her departure. Since then, Shuna has kept a relatively low profile, making this planned comeback event especially meaningful to her and her supporters.

Online reactions to the cancellation have been mixed. Many fans expressed concern for her wellbeing and voiced strong support for her decision, urging her to take her time and stay safe.
Others criticised the environment that led to the cancellation, calling for better protection for artists. A smaller number of netizens questioned whether the event could have been postponed instead, though such opinions were largely drowned out by messages of encouragement.
In closing her statement, Shuna Amamiya promised that this would not be the end. She said she will definitely create a space in the future where she can meet fans again, smiling and without worry. For now, she hopes supporters will continue to watch over her journey with patience and warmth.
What do you think about Shuna’s decision to cancel the event? Do you feel online safety for idols is improving, or still far from enough?
