NGT48’s Otsuka Nanami is stepping into a brand-new chapter, and fans can feel this one is personal. The group’s rising face has officially announced her first-ever photobook, Nanairo No Ao (七いろの青), set to hit shelves on 13 February 2026. With the cover visual and title now revealed, anticipation has jumped several levels, marking a major milestone in her idol journey.

Fresh off her role as a double centre for NGT48’s 11th single Kibou Ressha, Otsuka is no longer just “one to watch” — she’s firmly a central figure. This photobook feels like a carefully timed release, capturing her current growth while signalling confidence in what comes next.

The revealed cover keeps things symbolic rather than flashy. Otsuka Nanami appears in a white one-piece dress she says she always chooses for meaningful moments, turning back with her ponytail caught mid-motion. It’s clean, airy, and quietly powerful, a visual that leans into sincerity instead of noise.

The title Nanairo No Ao was conceived by Akimoto Yasushi, and Otsuka Nanami’s reaction says everything. She shared that seeing her name reflected through “seven” and the imagery of “blue” made her realise she carries more shades and layers than she had thought.

According to her, that emotional click made her heart flutter, and she hopes the book will let readers discover those different colours alongside her. She also teased a contrast between the purity of the cover and the unexpected sides waiting inside.

Alongside the cover reveal, a third set of preview cuts was released, showing a more mature, confident atmosphere compared to what fans are used to seeing.

The styling and poses focus on form, mood, and self-assurance rather than shock value, presenting a side of Otsuka that feels intentional and grown. She previously hinted that this project includes her boldest visuals to date, framed as an expression of trust in her supporters and pride in her own evolution.

The photobook itself comes in A4 size with 128 pages, photographed by Takeshi Okamoto and published by KADOKAWA.

It will retail at 3,300 yen including tax. Various bookstores will offer limited edition bonuses, while a special random benefit version will be available at select Niigata locations, making it a tempting collector’s item.

To celebrate the release, handover events with Nanami Otsuka herself are scheduled for 22 and 23 February in Tokyo, followed by a hometown event in Niigata on 28 February.

These appearances are expected to draw strong interest, especially from long-time supporters who’ve followed her journey from early stages to centre position.

Fan and netizen reactions have been lively and varied. Many praised the cover for feeling “very Nanami” and appreciated its emotional softness. Others were surprised by the confidence shown in the preview images, calling it a natural and well-timed transformation rather than a sudden shift.

There’s also a shared understanding among 48 Group fans that a first photobook isn’t handed out lightly. Management typically gauges public interest and long-term support before giving the green light, so for many, this release is seen as quiet confirmation of Otsuka’s strong standing.

Otsuka Nanami herself described the photobook as a “surprise present” and a gift to fans, saying she hopes people will look through it and think, “This is amazing.” More than a visual record, she invites readers to experience a slice of her journey, captured honestly at this moment in time.

What do you think of the title and cover reveal, and are you curious to see which “colour” of Otsuka Nanami stands out most to you?
