KLP48 has officially confirmed a major transition that many fans have been quietly anticipating. Four Japanese members who played a key role in the group’s early journey will soon conclude their activities with KLP48, marking the end of an important chapter as the group steps into its next phase.

According to an official statement released on 31 January 2026, Yamane Suzuha, Kurosu Haruka, Gyoten Yurina, and Kai Kokoa (Cocoa) will officially wrap up their KLP48 activities on 28 February 2026. Starting 1 March 2026, Suzuha, Haruka and Yurina will resume activities with AKB48, while Cocoa will return to STU48.

The announcement comes shortly after KLP48 successfully opened its permanent theatre in December 2025, a milestone that signals the group’s shift towards regular theatre performances as a core focus.

Management described this moment as a natural turning point, noting that the four members were originally tasked with helping establish the group’s foundation before the theatre era officially began.

Since KLP48’s debut in August 2024, Suzuha, Yurina, Haruka and Cocoa have been closely involved in shaping the group’s early identity.

Beyond stage performances, they were widely recognised for guiding first- and second-generation members, helping instil discipline, teamwork and performance standards during the group’s formative period.

Management credited their contributions as an irreplaceable part of KLP48’s history.

KLP48’s Founding Support Members Set to Leave as Theatre Operations Begin

In a separate statement, AKB48 confirmed that the three returning members will officially resume AKB48 activities from 1 March 2026 and are scheduled to appear at the upcoming AKB48 Spring Concert 2026 Part 3 at Yoyogi National Stadium First Gymnasium in April.

Further schedules will be announced at a later date. Online reactions have been mixed and emotional.

Some fans expressed gratitude, saying the timing felt appropriate now that KLP48’s theatre has opened and the group is ready to stand on its own.

Others admitted they were surprised by how quickly the transition was confirmed, especially given recent online chatter within the fandom.

At the same time, many supporters emphasised that the move feels like a return to roots rather than a sudden departure.

While speculation continues among netizens, official statements from both KLP48 and AKB48 have kept the focus firmly on growth, transition and future activities rather than controversy. Management also asked fans to continue offering warm support as the four members begin their next chapters.

What do you think about this transition? Is it the right timing, or do you feel these members should have stayed longer?
