The opening ceremony was held through a ribbon-cutting event that drew strong enthusiasm from fans.
Several key figures were present to witness the moment, including producer Nariaki Terada from Superball, Devi from the first generation, KLP48 Representative Director Yip Chun Huei, first-generation captain Yi Shyan, representatives from LaLaport BBCC management, and second-generation member Alice.
Their presence symbolised the official start of KLP48 Theatre as both a creative base and the group’s main performance stage.

Plans for the theatre were first confirmed back in April 2025, and after months of preparation, the project finally became a reality in December.
For KLP48, this opening represents more than just a venue — it firmly establishes their position within the wider 48 Group ecosystem, following the footsteps of their Japanese senior group.
Strategically located in Bukit Bintang, the theatre is expected to attract not only local fans but also international visitors who are already familiar with the unique theatre culture of the 48 Group.

Just like its counterparts, the venue is designed to bring idols and fans closer through intimate, regular shows.
In terms of size, KLP48 Theatre offers 200 audience seats, slightly smaller than AKB48’s theatre, which accommodates 250 seats.
The more compact layout is expected to create a warmer, closer atmosphere — something many fans appreciate when it comes to theatre-style idol performances.

With KLP48 Theatre now officially open at LaLaport BBCC, visiting Kuala Lumpur just got more exciting for idol fans.
✓ The KLP48 Theatre is expected to have a seating capacity of around 200 seats, creating a more intimate viewing experience compared to larger idol theatres.
✓ There are two piers on each side of the venue, though they are shorter than those at the JKT48 Theater, meaning closer interaction but within a more compact layout.
✓ Audience seating uses plastic upholstered chairs, which feel more stable and secure, especially for fans who prefer sturdier seating during longer shows.
✓ Unlike the JKT48 Theater, the KLP48 Theatre does not have a standing area or bar section, making it a fully seated venue.
✓ The Front of House (FOH) position is located at the back left side rather than the centre, which is a notable layout difference from the JKT48 Theater.
✓ It also appears that the foyer may not be suitable for hi-touch events, should those activities be planned in the future.
✓ Lastly, the lobby area includes space for a kabesha wall (though it has not been installed yet) as well as a merchandise booth, giving fans a dedicated area for photos and official goods.
Are you planning to catch a live show soon, or curious how KLP48’s theatre experience compares to other 48 Group venues?
