Oat Pasakorn Issues Apology After Controversial Omegaverse Comment Sparks Backlash

Thai actor Oat Pasakorn Sanrattana, best known for his roles in My Stubborn and the upcoming Omegaverse-themed drama KNOT, has found himself in hot water after making a controversial statement during a livestream that quickly went viral across social media.

The clip showed Oat casually discussing his new project — a Boys’ Love (BL) drama exploring the Omegaverse concept, where male characters can become pregnant.

However, his off-the-cuff comparison between the drama’s theme and the behaviour of “animals mating and getting stuck together” was widely criticised as crude and disrespectful.

Many fans accused the actor of showing a lack of understanding and appreciation for the BL genre and its audience.

Fans Call Out Disrespect and Insensitivity

BL fans — both in Thailand and internationally — expressed disappointment over Oat’s tone, saying it reduced the creative and emotional depth of BL stories to something vulgar.

Some noted that his additional remark about being in his current “profitable era” only reinforced the perception that he was treating the genre as a quick career booster rather than an art form that means a lot to its community.

One fan on Twitter commented that “people love BL because of its chemistry, warmth, and storytelling — not because of explicit scenes or shock value.”

Others said they felt “betrayed” hearing such dismissive words from someone who owes much of his fame to BL projects.

Oat Pasakorn’s Apology and Agency Response

Following the backlash, Oat posted both a typed and handwritten apology on social media, admitting that his words were thoughtless and inappropriate.

He wrote that he had “spoken without careful consideration” and sincerely regretted offending anyone.

He added that he has learned a valuable lesson and will be more cautious in future public interactions.

His management, Mflow Entertainment, also released a formal statement acknowledging the controversy.

The agency confirmed that they had reprimanded Oat and would take the matter seriously, ensuring he reflects on his actions and represents the company more responsibly moving forward.

While some fans have accepted his apology, the incident has reignited broader conversations about professionalism and respect within the BL industry

Many pointed out that actors working in the genre should treat it — and its global fanbase — with genuine appreciation, not as a mere stepping stone for fame.

The controversy around Oat Pasakorn serves as a reminder that the BL genre, rooted in emotional connection and inclusivity, deserves the same respect as any other form of storytelling.
