Chinese actress Li Yitong has officially spoken up after days of unsettling chatter online. On 13 November, her lawyer, Yang Shuguang, released a formal statement highlighting several legal violations committed by certain social media users who have allegedly crossed the line.

These posts reportedly twist facts, lift quotes out of context, and attempt to smear the actress through misleading interpretations.

Beyond that, her team also called out the circulation of inappropriate insinuations and intentionally harmful rumours that have taken aim at her personal reputation.

Li Yitong’s legal representatives stressed that these actions have caused real damage—not just to her public image, but also to her peace of mind.

They confirmed that evidence collection is already underway, and individuals involved will face legal consequences once investigations conclude.

The firm urged the public to remain sensible, avoid sharing unverified claims, and refrain from amplifying baseless narratives.

What Happened?

On the evening of 8 November, the official Weibo account of the drama Blossoms (Fanhua) released a statement claiming that former crew member Cheng Junnian (online name “Gu Er”) had uploaded a large number of unverified and illegally recorded audio clips on social media platforms.

These recordings sparked heated online debate and caused negative public impact. According to the statement, the audio clips were recorded without the consent of the people involved, and many parts were inaccurate, deliberately edited, and interpreted with malicious intent.

The statement further notes that Cheng Junnian, dissatisfied with being credited only as an “early-stage editorial staff member,” vented his frustration for personal gain by attempting to smear the main creative team and several innocent industry colleagues.

His actions led to severe online harassment against multiple individuals, including Li Yitong. He was also accused of stirring up social conflict and spreading harmful sentiment, with the production calling his behaviour extremely inappropriate.

Cheng Junnian has reportedly stayed abroad for a long period, avoiding domestic judicial investigation and legal determination. The production team strongly urged him to return to China and pursue any claims through lawful channels, while demanding that he immediately cease all illegal actions.

In an industry where one careless rumour can spiral into a storm, her team reminded everyone that online freedom does not mean freedom from accountability.

For now, Li Yitong remains focused on protecting her rights through proper legal channels, making it clear that her side has no intention of letting malicious behaviour slide.
