| Malaysian Rapper Namewee Questioned After Taiwanese Influencer Iris Hsieh’s Sudden Death in Hotel |
Things have taken a dark turn for Malaysian rapper Namewee, after police confirmed he’s officially linked to the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh Yu Hsin, who was found lifeless in a Kuala Lumpur hotel bathroom.
The 31-year-old creator, widely known online as “Nurse Goddess”, was reportedly in Malaysia for a content-shoot collaboration.
She was discovered unconscious in a bathtub, and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Namewee was in the same hotel room at the time, leading to his arrest for alleged druug use and possession.
His initial urine test reportedly came back positive for several substances — including amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine and THC.
What Allegedly Happened That Day
According to police briefings, Namewee was stopped by officers at around 12.30 pm on 22 October, just as he was about to leave the hotel.
Dressed casually in a white T-shirt and cap, he allegedly appeared nervous.
When questioned, he denied taking any.
Officers then accompanied him back to the room — where the tragic discovery was made.
Iris Hsieh’s body was found in the bathtub, unclothed, but notably there was no water in the tub or on the floor.
Sources suggest the pair had met up that night to discuss a video project.
Namewee is said to have told investigators that Iris Hsieh went to shower and didn’t return after half an hour.
When he checked on her, she was already unresponsive. He claimed to have attempted CPR before calling emergency services.
Police later seized suspected narcotics and some personal medication from the scene.

Charges and Court Progress
Authorities confirmed that Namewee was charged on 24 October with two counts — one for illegal consumption, another for possession.
He’s pleaded not guilty, with the case now set for mention in December.
Forensic reports on Iris Hsieh’s death are still pending.
Police haven’t ruled out any scenario, including any possible intake before her passing.
What Namewee Said Publicly
Breaking his silence online, Namewee posted a long statement denying the allegations.

He insisted that he neither used nor carried illegal stuff and said he’d simply been drinking more than usual lately.
He also expressed sadness over Iris Hsieh’s death, saying he’d cooperated fully with authorities but avoided earlier comment due to the ongoing investigation.
In his words, “I’m waiting for the official police report. The truth will come out eventually.”
He further criticised emergency response times, claiming the ambulance took almost an hour to reach the hotel.
The Unanswered Questions
Police are still piecing together the full picture — particularly what happened in the hours before Iris Hsieh’s death.
Investigators reportedly suspect she might have taken substances and possibly had intimate relations with Namewee before collapsing.
For now, the cause of death remains unconfirmed, and speculation online is growing fast.
Friends and followers in Taiwan have been mourning the influencer, describing her as cheerful, hardworking, and deeply passionate about her craft.
This case has stirred intense debate across both Malaysia and Taiwan — not only about the blurred line between work and personal life in influencer culture, but also about the risks of travelling abroad for shoots without full safety supervision.
As for Namewee, his legal troubles are far from over.
The December hearing will likely set the tone for how this saga unfolds — but one thing’s certain: both fans and critics are watching closely.
