Big news for idol fans in China! AKB48 Team SH, the Shanghai-based sister group of Japan’s iconic AKB48, has officially stepped into a new era with their very first original stage titled “Gossip Idol.”

The premiere show is scheduled for 2-4 November at 14:00 (local time) at the World Box Theater, Shanghai Great World, marking a historic milestone for the group’s journey.

Tickets went on sale on 29 October and, unsurprisingly, fans wasted no time snatching them up — with online chatter buzzing about how it’s the start of “Team SH’s true identity.”

A Bold and Personal Stage Concept

Unlike their usual large-member performances, Gossip Idol will feature a special seven-member formation, designed to bring out a more intimate and expressive side of the group.

The show’s concept dives deep into themes of love, secrets, and the glittering — yet sometimes shadowy — world of celebrity life.

It’s a daring step, showing a more mature and artistic evolution for Team SH, who seem ready to stand apart from the traditional 48G format while still carrying that signature AKB spirit.

The 12 Original Songs in “Gossip Idol”

The brand-new setlist comes packed with 12 original songs, each exploring different emotions and styles — from dreamy to dynamic:

  1. Heartbeat Opening

  2. Love Forecast

  3. Push Now

  4. Sea of Starlight Colours

  5. Secret Date

  6. Special Response

  7. Black and Red Constitution

  8. Gossip Idol

  9. Thorns Behind

  10. No Crossing the River

  11. Dream in a Dream

  12. Small World

A Defining Moment for Team SH

This isn’t just another stage — it’s a symbolic declaration of AKB48 Team SH’s independence and creativity in the Chinese idol scene.

The members themselves have shared their excitement about performing songs that represent their own stories and growth rather than adaptations from the Japanese catalogue.

Fans online have already called Gossip Idol “the most ambitious project yet” and praised its sleek concept, saying it “finally gives Team SH their own identity.”
