TVB veteran Roger Kwok and rising star Hilary Chong finally crossed paths again — five months after setting off a wave of “May-December romance” rumours that had everyone talking.
The two reunited publicly during the grand promo event for their new drama, The Fading Gold, marking their first joint appearance since that gossip storm.
Back in May, the internet buzzed after paparazzi photos showed Roger giving Hilary Chong a private tennis lesson.
What started as harmless mentoring quickly snowballed into whispers of something more, which both sides firmly denied at the time.

When reporters brought up the old topic, Roger just laughed it off.

“I wasn’t angry at all — I actually found it funny,” he said with a grin. “But to be honest, it’s been quite a while since we met.
Once there’s a rumour, you don’t even dare to eat or hang out together anymore. It’s not right, really.”
Asked cheekily if he’d still invite Hilary for another tennis game, Roger quipped,
“Would I still dare? I’m scared of the sun!”
The line drew laughter from the crowd — in Cantonese, “scared of the sun” is a playful pun that can also mean “avoiding the heat” or “staying out of trouble.”
Hilary Chong, for her part, admitted she was initially shocked by the gossip.

“I was really stunned when I saw those rumours. At first, I thought about avoiding everyone, but then I realised there’s no need to overreact. It’s part of the job, right?”
Their co-star Hera Chan then jumped in to clear the air, revealing she was actually the one who organised the tennis gathering.
“There were a bunch of us there that day! I honestly don’t get why the media focused only on Roger and Hilary,” she laughed.

At the event, TVB even positioned Hera between the two during interviews — clearly creating a “buffer zone” to keep things light and easy.
Despite the awkward past, the trio handled the moment with plenty of laughs and good vibes, showing fans and press alike that The Fading Gold team is ready to move on from the gossip and back into the spotlight.
