| Joey Yung’s Manager Defends Jackie Chan After Viral Back-Tap Moment |
People online really can’t resist jumping to conclusions.
Recently, 71-year-old Hong Kong legend Jackie Chan found himself at the centre of online drama after a clip of him placing his hand on Joey Yung’s back during the Greater Bay Area Film Concert 2025 in Macau went viral on Xiaohongshu.
In the short video, Joey Yung — wearing a bare-back evening gown — was seen sitting beside Jackie Chan when he briefly patted her shoulder and back.
That tiny moment somehow turned into a full-blown controversy, with some netizens accusing him of being inappropriate.

It didn’t stop there.
Rumours started flying that Albert Yeung, the powerful Emperor Group chairman who manages Joey, had to “rescue” her by pulling her away from Jackie.
Some online users even threw around harsh words, calling Jackie a “salty pig’s hand”, a Cantonese slang term aimed at gropers.
The Manager Speaks: “He’s Always Been a Gentleman”
Thankfully, Joey Yung’s longtime manager Mani Fok stepped in to set the record straight in an interview with HK01.

According to her, everything was taken completely out of context.
The stars — including Wang Leehom and Xiao Zhan — were swapping seats to take a group photo. Jackie’s brief touch was simply a polite tap to remind Joey to move back to her original seat after the picture.
“He watched Joey grow up,” Mani clarified. “Jackie’s always been very gentlemanly.”
Even the timing in the video backs this up: Albert Yeung actually stood up before Jackie touched Joey, debunking the “he rushed to save her” narrative entirely.

After Mani’s clarification hit the news, many fans who’d initially been suspicious admitted they’d judged too quickly.
Some netizens apologised in the comments, saying it was “clearly just a friendly moment,” while others used it as another example of how online outrage can spiral out of control within hours.
So yeah — sometimes a simple pat on the back is just that.
