| ‘Loveless Heroine’: Cherprang Areekul’s Bold Comeback in a Modern Take on Thai Classic |
Cherprang Areekul is gearing up for her long-awaited return to the small screen — and this time, she’s leading one of Thailand’s biggest drama productions yet.
The former BNK48 star has been officially confirmed as the female lead in Loveless Heroine, a high-profile series adapted from a popular Thai webtoon that reimagines the legendary tale Khun Chang Khun Phaen through a modern and empowering lens.
Far from the traditional retelling, Loveless Heroine will explore the story of Pen Nueng — a strong, self-reliant woman who refuses to let society or destiny dictate her path.

The series promises a refreshing take on the Thai folklore classic, giving its heroine the spotlight and agency she deserves.
For Cherprang, this marks her third historical or period project, following her roles in Busaba Lui Fai and Chom Chai Ayothaya.
Both were well-received for their attention to cultural detail and production value, setting high expectations for her next outing.

The project is being co-produced by major entertainment players including TrueVisions NOW, Juvenile Co., Ltd., LINE WEBTOON Thailand, and WEBTOON Productions under the global WEBTOON Entertainment banner.
The list of executive producers is stacked with industry heavyweights: Thiti Sutthikulpanich (Managing Director, Juvenile Co., Ltd.), Aron Levitz (President of Wattpad), David Madden (President of WEBTOON Productions), and Ryan Benitez (Head of Project Development, WEBTOON Productions).
The drama will be co-directed by Wirada Kuhawan and Thiti Sutthikulpanich, both known for visually rich storytelling and emotional direction — perfect for a series blending myth, modernity, and female empowerment.

According to the production team, Pen Nueng embodies the qualities of a modern Thai woman — confident, decisive, and unafraid to take control of her life.
They believe Cherprang perfectly represents this balance of elegance and strength, making her the ideal fit for the role.
