| Yu Menglong’s Final Hours: Dinner With Friends Before His Passing Leaves Fans in Shock |
Chinese actor Alan Yu Menglong’s sudden passing at the age of 37 has left the entertainment world reeling, and new reports are shedding light on his final hours.
According to local media, Yu Menglong spent the evening of 10 September at a small gathering with several close friends in Beijing.
Around five or six people were present, and the mood was said to be warm and lively. The get-together lasted late into the night.
At around 2 a.m., YuMenglong returned to a bedroom and locked the door. By the time the gathering wrapped up at 6 a.m., his friends realised he had not re-emerged.
When they went downstairs, they discovered Yu Menglong’s body. A neighbour out walking their dog reportedly witnessed the scene and alerted the police.
The news came as a deep shock to fans. Only hours earlier, at about 9:30 p.m. on 10 September, Yu Menglong had still been active on Weibo, and just three months ago he had joyfully marked his 37th birthday at a concert.

Born in 1988 in Ürümqi, Xinjiang, Yu stood 183 cm tall and first gained public attention in 2013 as a contestant on the singing competition Happy Boys, where he finished in the national top ten.
His real breakthrough came in 2017 with the fantasy hit Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花), in which he played Bai Zhen, the elder brother of Yang Mi’s character. He went on to headline New White Snake Legend and The Love Lasts Two Minds, earning him the reputation of being one of the “costume drama gods” of his generation.
Despite his popularity, Yu Menglong’s career slowed in later years. Industry whispers suggested he had been sidelined after refusing an investor, though these claims were never confirmed.
In the past two years, fans noticed his increasingly thin frame in photos and videos, sparking concern for his health. Business filings also revealed that all of his companies were dissolved by July 2024.
In interviews, Yu Menglong described himself as an introverted and sensitive soul.
