The suspense just got a fresh twist. Double Track Puzzle, starring Yang Xuwen and veteran actor Wang Yanhui, has officially landed on Youku, and it’s already making noise among crime drama fans.
A Familiar Territory for Yang Xuwen
This marks Yang Xuwen’s second dive into Zhao Junkai’s world of “black and white” crime fiction, after 2024’s Duel of Shadows.
Once again, he’s stepping into a tense web of law, loyalty, and justice — this time with a generational twist.
Fans of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty will also find the vibe familiar: Xuwen shines best when paired with a seasoned co-star, and Wang Yanhui brings the perfect weight to balance his fiery energy.

Based on Zhao Junkai’s Novel
Adapted straight from Zhao Junkai’s book, Double Track Puzzle tells the story of two generations of railway police officers.
Zhan Peng (Yang Xuwen) follows in the footsteps of his late father, a decorated officer who sacrificed his life in service.
Arriving at Xiatong Station — the very place where his father worked — Zhan Peng quickly realises the local crime scene is a far more tangled mess than he expected.
His uneasy first encounter with Tu Hongjiang (Wang Yanhui), a veteran cop with a mysterious edge, doesn’t help.
Suspicion rises when Tu Hongjiang appears to act strangely during a drug trafficking case.
But as the duo get thrown into deeper investigations, layers peel back and true loyalties emerge.
Respect slowly replaces doubt, and the two join forces to uncover the puppet master pulling the strings behind the chaos.
Why It’s Worth Watching
