Was Alan Yu Menglong’s Final Message Real or Fabricated? Netizens Clash Over Viral Post

Actor Yu Menglong’s Alleged Farewell Sparks Netizen Backlash
Alan Yu Menglong’s “Final Message” Sparks Online Debate – Authentic Farewell or Fabricated Drama?

Chinese actor Alan Yu Menglong (于朦胧), aged 37, known to many for his role in Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花), tragically passed away in Beijing on 11 September. His mother confirmed he fell from a building after consuming alcohol, and police reported no criminal elements were involved.

But in the weeks following his passing, online chatter has been fuelled by a supposed “last message” leaked by an internet personality – a message that has split opinion between believers and sceptics.

The Claimed “Last Words”

According to influencer and YouTuber “Lao Deng”, the message was shared with permission from Yu’s mother.

In it, Yu Menglong allegedly describes being trapped in a dark apartment, manipulated by a powerful older man nicknamed Prince.

He wrote that he felt poisoned by being used in financial schemes:

“Every time I see those bank transfer numbers, I feel sick and want to vomit. That’s not my money, it’s dirty and bloody.”

The note also touches on his career frustrations, recalling the joy of his debut role when his mother made dumplings to celebrate, contrasted against what he called the “darkness of the industry.”

Other dramatic lines include Yu Menglong confessing he felt blacklisted, endangered, and forced into compromise:

“If you stick to your principles, you will be doomed.”

The message ends with an emotional apology and farewell:

“I failed to escape. I can only say goodbye to you, Mum.”

Netizens React: Doubts and Criticism

While the wording is emotional, the reception has been far from sympathetic.

On Weibo, Douyin, and comment sections across forums, many have dismissed the message as fabricated.

Common reactions include:

  • “Too flowery, not his style at all.”

  • “If you have time to type this much, why not message Yang Mi or Huahua instead? Doesn’t make sense.”

  • “This is pure fantasy. No way his family would allow this kind of risk.”

  • “So fake. Anyone who believes this is really stupid.”

Others suggested that if such claims of manipulation and money laundering were real, Yu Menglong’s relatives would be targeted next – a detail that casts more suspicion on the message’s credibility.

The situation highlights how celebrity deaths in China often become surrounded by waves of speculation, conspiracy, and online storytelling.

For Yu Menglong, whose career spanned both acting and singing, the tragedy has already been mourned by fans – but the supposed “final message” risks shifting focus from remembrance to gossip.

For now, there is no independent verification of the note, and neither Alan Yu’s family nor his management have issued a formal response to the circulating claims.
