Chinese internet was sent buzzing when the phrase “Na Ying’s Husband Allegedly Cheating” shot straight to the top of Weibo’s trending list.

At the centre of the storm was a grainy video that appeared to show Meng Tong, the long-time husband of veteran singer Natasha Na Ying, being unusually close with a younger woman.

The Video That Sparked It All
The clip showed a bespectacled man, identified by netizens as Meng Tong, at a dinner with friends.
Attention quickly shifted to his interaction with a woman who leaned on his shoulder and left the restaurant arm-in-arm with him.
Reports even claimed he brought her back to the couple’s villa, fuelling immediate speculation of marital trouble.

The post, uploaded by a small account with only three entries, described the scene as “a national-level diva’s backyard catching fire.”
Within hours, the rumour grew into one of the day’s biggest talking points online.
Meng Tong’s Side of the Story
Facing mounting chatter, Meng Tong issued a clarification. He firmly denied the affair, insisting that the dinner was a simple gathering with friends.
He explained that, due to an injured leg, he was helped into his car after the event.
The woman in question, he added, was actually a neighbour from a nearby complex who he happened to offer a ride home.
Meng apologised for what might have looked like inappropriate behaviour and promised to be more cautious in public. He also made it clear that he intends to pursue legal action against anyone spreading false claims.

While Meng spoke up quickly, Na Ying herself has remained quiet. What fans did notice, however, was that over 1,400 past posts disappeared from her official Weibo account on the same day, sparking fresh speculation.
Some fans voiced sympathy, urging the singer not to force herself to maintain appearances if things at home are difficult. Others remained sceptical of Meng’s explanation, noting the affectionate body language caught on camera.

Na Ying, one of China’s most recognisable vocalists, married Meng Tong in 2006 in Canada.
The pair share a daughter. Meng, born in 1967, holds an MBA from Germany and is best known as the founder of Beijing’s upscale nightclub VICS.
Public business records show that the couple once co-owned several companies, including a cultural media firm and a music centre, but all three ventures have since been deregistered, the most recent being in May 2025.
Na Ying has openly spoken about her affection for Meng in multiple variety shows, often describing him as doting and supportive.

On Sisters Who Make Waves, she joked about still having the heart of an 18-year-old because of his care.
Just recently on another show, she instinctively wrote her husband’s name when asked who she’d take to a deserted island, drawing admiration for their bond.
This is exactly why the current scandal stings for fans — the couple had been publicly portrayed as a steady, loving pair, especially after Na Ying’s difficult past relationships. Whether this storm blows over as a misunderstanding or leaves a lasting mark remains to be seen.
