| Jam Hsiao’s On-Stage Wardrobe Malfunction Becomes the Talk of Taipei |
Taiwanese star Jam Hsiao is used to making headlines for his powerhouse vocals — but last week at the Taipei Dome, it wasn’t just the music that had people talking.
The 38-year-old singer was invited as a special guest at a retirement celebration concert for baseball legend Lin Chih-Sheng of the Wei Chuan Dragons.
Everything was running smoothly as Jam Hsiao launched into his second number, the fan-favourite hit Princess. Then came a rather unexpected twist.
Mid-performance, Jam Hsiao threw himself into the choreography with high kicks and a dramatic crouch — only to hear that dreaded “ripppp”.
His trousers split right open at the crotch, flashing a pair of very bold, bright red underwear.

Rather than panic, the seasoned performer made light of the mishap, exclaiming, “Ah! My pants ripped!” before powering through to the end of the song.
He even punctuated the number with a theatrical drop to his knees, as if the whole thing had been choreographed.
Instead of rushing off stage to change, Jam Hsiao casually tied his jacket around his waist and kept the set going, proving that not even a wardrobe malfunction could derail his performance.

The audience erupted in applause at his calm response, and many praised him for handling the moment with humour and professionalism.
Backstage, his studio later joked in a statement: “Lesson learned — next time we’ll prepare trousers one size larger.” Fans on social media echoed the sentiment, praising Jam’s ability to laugh at himself and stay confident.

Since official media weren’t permitted to record the concert, everyone’s eyes turned to Jam’s wife and manager, Summer Lin.
True to form, she cheekily uploaded a snap of the unfortunate trousers to her Instagram Stories, giving the world a close-up of the roughly 10-centimetre tear.
Of course, the post went viral in no time, with netizens having a field day over the coincidence that Jam Hsiao’s scarlet underwear matched the Wei Chuan Dragons’ team colours.

Adding to the comedy, Jam Hsiao’s mum — who was in the crowd — assumed it was a planned gimmick rather than an accident. “Perfectly timed stage effect,” she reportedly told friends.
By the next morning, Jam Hsiao’s “ripped pants” moment was trending on Taiwanese entertainment feeds. Far from denting his image, the mishap has only added to his reputation as a fun-loving professional who knows how to keep the show going no matter what.
