“No More Scalpers!”: New Ticket Verification Wins Praise Ahead of NCT DREAM Malaysia Show

When it comes to K-Pop concerts in Malaysia, the words “sold out” usually pop up before most fans can even type in their card details. Ticket scalping has been a headache for years, but things hit boiling point after G-DRAGON’s recent two-day show in Kuala Lumpur – tickets vanished in seconds, resale prices soared, and plenty of genuine fans couldn’t even get past checkout.

The outrage was loud enough that the government has since floated an official anti-scalping law.

But while Parliament debates the finer points, organisers are already trying to protect fans in more creative ways.

NCT DREAM Bringing Puzzle Power to KL

NCT DREAM are set to return to Malaysia this December 2025 with The Dream Show 4: Dream The Future, and this time, ticketing came with a twist. Instead of the usual click-refresh-pray routine, fans had to solve puzzles and quizzes before they could secure their seats.

The system, rolled out by Live Nation Malaysia and ticketing partner GoLive Asia, included a drag-and-drop puzzle of the National Monument as well as multiple-choice questions on both NCT DREAM trivia and Malaysian culture.

Only after completing the tasks within the time limit could fans proceed to checkout.

The result? A ticketing experience that felt more like a fan challenge than a battlefield against bots.

Fans Say “Kudos” to Organisers

Malaysian fans flooded social media with thanks, praising the organisers for listening to concerns and putting locals first.

Many felt it was a much-needed shield against scalpers, especially after frustration over an alleged insider resale attempt surfaced last month.

Some even suggested taking things further, with questions so specific that only Malaysians could answer, to stop international resellers sneaking in.

Others compared the system to Thai Ticket Major’s similar approach for SEVENTEEN’s Bangkok show last year – a model many are now calling for across Asia.

While no system is flawless, this puzzle-and-quiz ticketing gave fans a sense of control and fairness that has often been missing from the concert scene.

And with the government’s proposed anti-scalping law on the horizon, there’s cautious optimism that Malaysia might finally be turning a corner when it comes to protecting concertgoers.

For now, NCTzens in Malaysia can celebrate not just the boys’ upcoming December return, but also the fact that their voices have been heard – and that their loyalty is finally being prioritised.
