Chinese actress Chen Zihan (a.k.a Chen Shasha) has opened up about one of the most difficult chapters of her life, sharing that she stepped away from acting for three years to focus on starting a family with her husband, actor Dai Xiangyu.
The confession came during the Zhejiang TV reality show Our Love Song, where celebrity couples share personal stories.
In a candid moment, Chen Zihan admitted that she went through 12 rounds of IVF treatment during her hiatus, describing the experience as both physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming.
“Those three years, it was injections every single day. There were days we’d just hug each other and cry in the middle of the street,” she said, visibly moved.

Her revelation left fellow guests Joe Chen, Zhou Qiqi, and Liu Yun stunned, with many admitting they were caught off guard by the sheer perseverance it must have taken.
Chen Zihan was quick to clarify that the decision wasn’t because of pressure from family, but rather her own deep love for children.
“It came entirely from me. I’ve always felt that having a baby is an important part of life,” she said firmly.

Her husband Dai Xiangyu, when asked by the media, chose to keep things understated: “Our hearts are at peace. As for the future… let’s see what destiny has planned.”
The show also revealed that the couple once came close to splitting up. Dai, burdened by family health issues and financial strain, had quietly filed for divorce without even discussing it with Chen.
Chen Zihan only discovered it after the fact, and confronted him directly, telling him: “I’m the type of person who fixes a broken TV, not someone who replaces it straight away.”
