J-Pop Idol Group TEAR DROP! Announces Disbandment—Final Chapter Begins |
It’s the end of a vibrant, glitter-soaked era—J-Pop girl group TEAR DROP! have officially announced they’ll be disbanding this autumn. The bittersweet news dropped via the group’s official account on 18 July, sending shockwaves across the idol community.
Formed in late October 2022 under agency SCOT and produced by former chuLa member Aoi Seina, the group made their dazzling stage debut at Shinjuku ReNY on 5 November that same year.
TEAR DROP!—stylised with an exclamation mark for extra flair—have been on a rollercoaster ride of highs and heart over the past three years, with festivals, solo shows, and a growing, dedicated fanbase.
The group currently features nine members: Tsukishiro Tsumu, Mizuno Nao, Kohane Miru, Shiromiya Runa, Nishino Fuka, Kayama Saki, Takagi Sora, Ayano Rei, and Hiiro Arice. Across their run, they’ve also seen the graduation of four original members: Amami Rise, Shirayuki Yuka, Amane Mei, and Hanaki Nonno.

“We Gave It Our All”: Members Share Emotional Posts
In true idol fashion, several members took to their X (formerly Twitter) accounts to share personal messages with fans—most of them brimming with love, tears, and unfiltered honesty.
Shiromiya Runa, a founding member, opened up about the struggles of letting go:
“I’ve always believed we’d make it to the main stage together. I’ve never once given up on that dream. That’s why it took time for me to accept the decision. It’s painful and frustrating, but I’ve finally found a way to face forward and accept the group’s choice.”

Runa reflected on her journey from a previous group that ended after 2 years and 8 months, to giving it another shot with TEAR DROP!—a decision that, while terrifying at the time, gave her unforgettable memories, including their O-EAST solo gig and summer festival appearances.
Hiiro Arice, the group’s newest addition (joining just this March), also penned a heartfelt goodbye:
“Even though I’ve only been with TEAR DROP! for four months, it’s been the happiest time of my life. To every fan who gave me so much love—thank you. I honestly still wish this was just a bad dream.”
