Rosina Lam Responds to Bankruptcy Petition: Settlement Reached, Case Ongoing |
Hong Kong TV queen Rosina Lam (林夏薇) a.k.a Lin Xiawei has finally addressed the shock bankruptcy petition that came out of nowhere earlier this year, after weeks of silence and confusion from fans and netizens alike. Back in late May, headlines exploded when a company filed a petition at the High Court against the actress, claiming unpaid dues related to her swanky apartment at The Peak. But as of this morning (8 July), it looks like the storm is finally clearing.
In a lawyer-issued statement shared on Rosina’s social media, her legal team confirmed that a settlement has been reached between the two parties and that the petitioner — Jadespring Limited — has already submitted a formal request to the court to withdraw the bankruptcy application.
“The petitioner and our client have reached a settlement arrangement,” the legal notice read. “The petitioner has formally filed an application with the court to withdraw the bankruptcy petition. Relevant legal proceedings are currently underway.”
The statement went on to stress that due to the ongoing legal process, there will be no further comments made for now — and urged the public and media to refrain from speculation or false reporting.
It also issued a sharp warning to livestream hosts, online forum admins, and social media users not to spread defamatory or untrue claims about the actress — or risk facing legal consequences.
A Confusing Drama From the Start
The whole situation kicked off on 30 May when it was revealed that Jadespring Limited — owner of the ultra-luxury property Rosina resides in — had filed for her bankruptcy. Court records showed that a hearing had been scheduled for 26 August.
Fans were immediately baffled. Rosina, who won the TVB Best Actress award in 2021 and is known for roles in hit dramas like Battle of the Seven Sisters and Speakers of Law, has kept a relatively low-key profile in recent years. She was also not known to be involved in any major public debts or controversies.
Even more confusing? Her husband, finance executive Jason Mok (莫贊生), had been battling bankruptcy issues of his own. Two companies previously filed for his bankruptcy after he reportedly defaulted on a massive HK$135 million loan. The court issued a bankruptcy order against him in April this year. The same property owner who went after Rosina had also earlier filed against Jason — but ended up withdrawing that one too on 3 June, with the court's blessing.
Rosina previously responded to media back in May, saying she was utterly confused and insisted she wasn’t involved in any relevant debts:
“Thanks everyone for your concern. I am not bankrupt. Please stop spreading false rumours.”
All Eyes on August
Now that the settlement is in motion and the petition is being pulled, fans are hoping the court officially wraps things up before the August hearing. It’s a bit of relief for Rosina supporters who’ve been waiting patiently for clarity.
For now, her side seems keen to let the legal system do its thing — and keep the gossip at bay.
