fhána & Sachiko Kobayashi Bring the Feels Live at Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Movie Theme Song Event

Tears, tunes, and a ton of heart—the vibes were strong on 13 July at AEON LakeTown mori, where anime fans gathered for a special celebration marking the release of the new theme songs for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved. With live performances by fan-favourites fhána and the legendary Sachiko Kobayashi, the event was a full-on emotional ride that perfectly matched the warm and whimsical tone of Kyoto Animation’s newest feature.

Set in Koshigaya, Saitama—also the real-life location of the event—the film brings the beloved cast of Dragon Maid to the big screen in a brand new story about family, connection, and learning to love yourself even when you feel out of place. And what better way to launch that than with a proper live stage event?

The afternoon kicked off at 1:00 p.m. sharp with fhána lighting up the venue. Vocalist Towana opened with the much-loved “Rhapsody of Blue Sky”, one of the iconic OPs from the original series, with Junichi Sato on keys and Kevin on the metallophone (yes, that shimmering sound was real!). The crowd was buzzing—clapping, singing along, and soaking up every note.

Not wasting a beat, the trio jumped straight into “Love Supreme!”, the catchy opening from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S. With its quirky rhythm and Kevin’s rapid-fire rap bouncing off Towana’s crystal-clear vocals, it had the whole crowd swaying and snapping in sync. The chemistry? Impeccable. The crowd? Living for it.

And then came the emotional punch: fhána’s brand-new track, “Parade of Tears”—the official opening theme for the film. It's a moody, beautiful piece that captures the bittersweet journey of the titular lonely dragon. Live, it hit even harder.

Following that, it was time for the grande dame herself—Sachiko Kobayashi—to take the stage. Her performance of “Bokutachi no Hibi” (translated: “Our Days”) served as a heartfelt closer to the event. Elegant, nostalgic, and grounded in old-school emotion, it was the perfect ending song, not just for the movie but for the event itself.

The two tracks, now available on all major streaming platforms, offer two sides of the same emotional coin: one filled with longing, the other grounded in reflection.
