Pop star and former pro swimmer Alexaus Fong Lik-sun or Alex Fong is officially diving into fatherhood – and he might just be welcoming a little princess!
During his concert on 19 July at the Nanhai Sports Centre in Foshan, Alex surprised the audience with a big baby announcement: he and his wife Maple Yip are expecting a baby girl. Well, at least that’s what the ultrasound says – Alex, ever the cheeky dad-to-be, still isn’t fully convinced!
Midway through his set, the 45-year-old star played a voice recording of a private convo between him and Maple as they looked at their baby’s ultrasound. On-screen? A sonogram. On-mic? Alex saying in disbelief, “No way... it really is a girl?” while Maple calmly confirmed, “Yes, it’s a girl.”
The audience burst into laughter when Alex confessed, “Honestly, even now I’m still not 100% sure. So later this month, I’ll go with her for another scan – see if there’s anything sticking out!”
As if that wasn’t iconic enough, Alex even had a balloon gender reveal moment on stage: a massive golden balloon was popped to release a flurry of pink balloons, confirming the baby's gender – or at least suggesting it.

Alex admitted that he’d been certain they were having a boy, to the point of near disbelief. “It hit me so hard when I found out. I kept saying, ‘It can't be a girl, it’s impossible!’” he said, still processing the surprise.
Some fans teased him online for “chasing a son,” but others were quick to defend him, saying he actually seemed chuffed at the idea of having a daughter – and probably wouldn’t mind having more kids either.
