SIBA Media Registers Multiple ‘Zhao Yue’ Trademarks Amid Contract End

Zhao Yue Announces Contract Termination with SIBA on Birthday Livestream

On 29 April, Zhao Yue dropped a pretty big bombshell during her birthday livestream—she’s officially parted ways with SIBA Media, wrapping up an entire decade of collaboration.

No drama, though.

It was all done respectfully, and SIBA even reposted her statement with a kind message wishing her well. Grown-up stuff, honestly.

But here’s where things get a bit eyebrow-raising: despite the clean break, SIBA seems to be holding onto a piece of Zhao Yue—literally.

According to Tianyancha (China’s business info database), Shanghai SIBA Performing Arts Management Co., Ltd. has already locked down multiple trademarks under the name “Zhao Yue.”

Zhao Yue Moves On from SIBA, But Company Keeps Trademark Rights

And these aren’t just for entertainment—it spans stuff like advertising, convenience food, and even bedsheets. Yep, you read that right.

The company, which was founded in Feb 2023 and is fully owned by the bigger Shanghai SIBA Cultural Media Group, seems to be making sure the name “Zhao Yue” stays very much in their portfolio.

The legal rep listed is Tao Ying, with a solid 10 million RMB registered capital, and business activities ranging from live shows and talent management to broadcasting and online media ops.

While Zhao Yue exits with class, her former agency seems to be facing a few clouds.

Legal records show Star48 is currently entangled in several contract dispute cases.

Notably, plaintiffs include Ma Yuling, Zhao Jiarui, and Ju Jingyi—another high-profile former SNH48 member. These cases are expected to go to court in May and June this year.

For those who’ve followed her journey, Zhao Yue (also known to fans as Akira) first made waves as part of SNH48’s Team NII, later stepping up as a member of 7SENSES and even BonBon Girls 303.

She officially graduated from SNH48’s Team NII on 11 September 2022, bagging the rare “Honorary Graduate” title—not something you see every day.

So while she’s charting her next path solo, it looks like her name might still be working overtime under someone else’s umbrella.

Let’s just hope this doesn’t get messy down the line.
