Asahi Okazaki Disappearance: Body Found Months After Family Reported Stalking

It’s a heartbreaking turn in the case of 20-year-old Asahi Okazaki, the young woman who vanished from Kawasaki, Kanagawa last December after reportedly suffering relentless stalking from her ex-boyfriend.

Now, months later, a body has been found inside that very ex’s home – and police are racing to confirm whether it's her.

Asahi had been missing since late 2024, with her family desperately trying to get police to take their suspicions seriously.

The turning point came on the night of 30 April, when officers finally searched her ex-boyfriend’s residence – and what they found was grim: a human body, stuffed in a bag, partially skeletonised.

Police aren’t yet saying for certain that it’s Asahi, but all signs point that way.

The home where the body was discovered belongs to the man she once dated – the same man her family say had been stalking and harassing her for months after their brief relationship turned sour.

Here’s what we know so far.

According to reports, Asahi began dating the man around a year before she disappeared. Things took a dark turn after they broke up.

The man allegedly started stalking her – and it wasn’t just following her around. It escalated quickly to violence.

Asahi actually filed a police report at one point, but just a week later, he allegedly threatened her into withdrawing it. She did – under duress. The harassment didn’t stop there.

He even showed up at her grandmother’s house in Kawasaki, where she had gone to stay in hopes of finding some peace.

Then came the chilling turning point: after apparently seeing her with someone else, the ex reportedly sent her a threatening message. The very next day – 20 December – Asahi disappeared.

Her family, particularly her father, immediately suspected something was wrong.

They tried to get the police involved, but according to her dad in a recent interview, their concerns weren’t taken seriously at first.

Even when the grandmother found a broken window at her house shortly after Asahi vanished, the police apparently brushed it off, claiming there wasn’t enough to suggest foul play.

For the next four months, Asahi’s loved ones were left to do the digging themselves – reaching out to friends, trawling social media, pushing the authorities to act.

And finally, just days ago, their efforts led police to the ex-boyfriend’s home. Inside: a bag with human remains, partially decomposed.

The body hasn’t yet been officially identified, but given the context and timeline, the family fears the worst.

The ex-boyfriend, meanwhile, has vanished – and is now being sought by police.

Outside the local police station, around 20 to 30 family members and friends have gathered, anxiously awaiting answers.

Asahi’s father was seen entering the station for a meeting with investigators.

It’s a devastating development in a case that many feel could’ve been prevented if red flags were taken seriously from the start.

The investigation is now officially being treated as a corpse abandonment case – though that may evolve depending on what forensics reveal.

We'll be watching closely for updates. For now, thoughts go out to Asahi’s family, who fought so hard to be heard.
