Oshima Yuko & Hayashi Kento Welcome Their Second Baby |
Former AKB48 ace-turned-actor Oshima Yuko and her husband, actor Hayashi Kento, have just welcomed their second child — and by the looks of it, the little one’s already got fans across the country grinning ear to ear.
On 27 May, the couple shared their happy news with the public, with both Yuko and Kento posting heartfelt messages via their official channels. Yuko, 36, took to Instagram with a tender black-and-white snap of a tiny baby hand — short, simple and full of love.
“In welcoming this new life, I’m so happy to be able to report that both baby and I are healthy,” she wrote. “I’m incredibly grateful to the doctors, staff, everyone who supported us, and of course, our family, friends, and those around us who’ve always had our back.”
She wrapped the message with a line that had fans melting: “I’m truly looking forward to the future we’ll grow and build with our children. I hope you’ll continue to warmly watch over us until the next time we meet.”
Kento, 34, also released a statement via his official site, echoing the joy. “A new life has been born into our family,” he shared. “Mother and child are both doing well, and we’re spending our days peacefully. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who's supported us so warmly.”
Their agency, Ohta Production, chimed in too, confirming that mum and bub are both in great health. As for work? Yuko’s post-birth plans will follow her doctor’s advice and how she’s feeling, so it’s all about taking it slow and steady.
The couple’s love story began on the set of NHK’s asadora Scarlet (2019–2020), where sparks clearly flew off-camera as well as on. They announced their marriage in July 2021, and welcomed their first child in January 2023. With baby number two now joining the gang, it’s safe to say their home’s about to get a whole lot livelier.

Yuko Oshima, of course, is AKB48 royalty — one of the legendary “Kami 7” members who helped define the golden age of the group. She was front and centre for hits like “Heavy Rotation” and officially graduated in 2014, diving headfirst into acting. Since then, she’s starred in everything from asadoras like Asa ga Kita and Scarlet to dramas like Tokyo Tarareba Musume and Seven Secretaries.
Kento Hayashi’s no stranger to the spotlight either — he made his big-screen debut back in 2007 in the film Battery and has been delivering solid performances across genres since. You’ve probably seen him pop up in Beppin-san, Idaten, or even Arakawa Under the Bridge.
As expected, fans across social media have flooded the pair with well wishes, saying things like:
💬 “Aww! Can’t believe our centre girl is now a mum of two. Time really flies!”
💬 “Kento and Yuko are literal couple goals. Congrats on the growing family!”
No name or gender for the bub has been revealed yet — but let’s be honest, with genes like that, this kid’s bound to be adorable.
For now, we wish them loads of nappies, sleep (good luck), and all the cuddles they can handle.
