Ex-Sakurazaka46 Idol Kobayashi Yui Is Now Yousti – And She’s Got a Mini Album on the Way (Sony Music) |
She’s back, and this time, she’s doing it her way. Former Sakurazaka46 member Kobayashi Yui is stepping into the solo spotlight with a brand-new name — Yousti — and dropping her first mini album on 27 August 2025 under Sony Music Labels.
It’s not just a solo debut — it’s a proper reintroduction.
Kobayashi Yui’s been on a journey since parting ways with Sakurazaka46 early last year.
After nearly a decade as one of the group’s standout first-gen members (all the way from the Keyakizaka46 days), she’s now carving her own path — and she’s doing it with full creative control.
Yep, self-produced.
From the visuals to the message, everything about Yousti screams this is me now.
The name “Yousti” itself is a bit of clever wordplay — combining “Yui” with “ostrich” (as in the bird that famously hides its head when scared, aka a slangy symbol of escapism).
But there’s more to it: she’s also flipping the script with a hidden message — “i” (me), “you”, and “st” (superlative) — a quiet little tribute to her fans, reminding them they’ll always be the best in her eyes.
So, what’s the vibe of her debut music?
It’s deeply personal.
After taking a year to reflect post-graduation, Yui Kobayashi shared that she wants her songs to be a gentle hand on the shoulder — especially for those feeling overwhelmed.
“It’s okay to not try so hard,” she says.
“It’s okay to run away sometimes. Let yourself be.” It’s music for anyone who’s ever wanted to escape reality for a bit — and needed a little nudge to say that’s totally fine.
The first mini album, also titled “yousti,” drops 27 August, and to celebrate, she’s holding exclusive online meet & greets via forTUNE music.
