Another Idol Graduation Incoming: Kakimoto Rena to Leave SKE48 |
Another chapter’s about to close in the world of 48G, as SKE48’s Kakimoto Rena — better known by her fans as “Kakirena” — has officially announced she’ll be leaving the group next month. The news dropped on 24 May 2025 via the group’s official website, catching some fans off guard.
No dramatic press conference today, no stream with tissues and tears — just a straightforward announcement that her activities with SKE48 will wrap up at the end of June. The exact schedule of her final appearances hasn’t been revealed yet, but June 30 is marked as her last active day with the group.
Kakirena, who’s part of SKE48’s 12th generation and currently still a Kenkyuusei (trainee), joined the Nagoya-based idol group in October 2023. Although her time with SKE48’s theatre stage has been relatively short — just over a year and a half — fans have praised her solid performance skills, sweet vocals and that classic Kansai charm.
Born on 12 September 2005 in Hyogo Prefecture, Kakirena brought a fresh energy to the group’s younger lineup. At just 154cm tall, she stood small on stage but always delivered with that signature idol sparkle. Whether it was in group MCs or fan events, she had a subtle charisma that made her memorable — even in the crowded world of trainee idols.
As for why she’s graduating now? The official post didn’t go into any detail. No personal reasons cited, no plans teased — just a short message saying she’s decided to leave, and she thanks everyone who supported her. Classic idol exit, low-key but respectful.
SKE48 has seen quite a few graduations this year already, and with Kakimoto Rena’s departure, fans are once again reflecting on the group’s future lineup. Some are understandably gutted — Kakimoto Rena had only just started to build her momentum, with some even rooting for her to get promoted to a full team position soon.
But others are choosing to be supportive, wishing her well whether she stays in entertainment or moves onto something new. Maybe uni, maybe modelling, maybe just a proper rest — no one knows for sure yet.
For now, fans have just over a month to say their goodbyes. Whether it’s one last handshake event or a small-stage theatre send-off, Kakirena’s leaving her mark in her own quiet way.
