Oba Mina, the beloved former member of SKE48 and AKB48, has just embarked on a brand new chapter in her life – motherhood!
On 2 May, the 32-year-old star shared the exciting news with her fans, revealing she gave birth to her first child, a healthy baby boy weighing a sturdy 3,840 grams.
In an emotional Instagram post, Oba expressed her gratitude to everyone who has supported her throughout this journey.
"Both my son and I are doing well," she wrote, adding that the experience felt "surreal" and "overwhelming."
She described the birth as a "miracle" and couldn't help but gush over her new baby, calling him “so precious I can’t stop staring at him.”
Oba Mina, who graduated from the idol scene in 2022 after a long career with both AKB48 and SKE48, has been known for her leadership in SKE48’s Team KII and her bright, candid personality.
Fans have watched her grow from a teenager in the spotlight to a grounded, confident woman – and now, a proud new mum.
Oba Mina also mentioned that her husband, professional baseball player Ishikawa Shuta, was by her side throughout the entire process.
The couple, who tied the knot in January 2023, welcomed their son with the support of a carefully planned and well-executed birth.
She shared her appreciation for her husband's strength during the journey and expressed how deeply thankful she was to the medical staff for helping her give birth to her son on time, even making adjustments for her husband to be there.
As the new family of three begins this next chapter, Oba Mina acknowledged the challenges of first-time parenting but is excited to embrace it, saying, "Although there will be many moments of confusion, I’ll enjoy it in our own way and tackle it together with my family."
