8-ban Deguchi: Nana Komatsu Joins Ninomiya Kazunari in Upcoming Mystery Film

“8-ban Deguchi” Starring Ninomiya Kazunari and Nana Komatsu Heads to Cannes 2025
Nana Komatsu Enters the Unknown in Ninomiya Kazunari’s “8-ban Deguchi” – and They’re Off to Cannes!

Nana Komatsu has officially joined the upcoming movie “8-ban Deguchi”, starring the ever-magnetic Ninomiya Kazunari.

The twist? Her character has no name. Literally.

And that’s about all we know.

No character bio, no backstory—just vibes. Proper mysterious, right?

What we do know is the film’s already making waves, having snagged a spot in the Midnight Screening section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.

Both Komatsu and Ninomiya will be heading to France together to walk that iconic red carpet.

It’s Nana’s first time at Cannes too, so you can imagine the buzz.

Directed and written by Genki Kawamura (the genius behind Confessions and Monster), 8-ban Deguchi is a live-action adaptation of the hit indie horror game by KOTAKE CREATE.

Think never-ending underground corridors, strange happenings, and five anonymous people trying to find the elusive “Exit No. 8” before they lose themselves entirely.

Nana shared a thoughtful comment ahead of the release:

“It’s set in a game world, with five characters who don’t even have names. That vagueness opens up so many layers of imagination. Even though it's clearly a game, some parts looked strangely familiar—like moments from our real world. I kept wondering what path I was on, feeling a weird sense of déjà vu the whole time.”

It’s also her first time working with Ninomiya, and she had nothing but praise:

“He’s grounded, reliable, and leads the team with such calm energy. There’s a delicate, technical side to his acting that only he can pull off. I’m glad we got to share this strange little universe together.”

Still, even Nana admits she’s not sure what kind of film it’ll end up being:

“Is this real? Is it a glitch? I’m just excited to see how people interpret it—and what kind of ‘disturbance’ it might spark in viewers.”

8-ban Deguchi hits Japanese cinemas on 29 August 2025, but its world premiere under the bright lights of Cannes is sure to start the conversation early.

Keep your eyes peeled—this one might just mess with your head in the best way.
