Drama fans, buckle up. Tonight’s serving of emotional chaos is piping hot, and it goes by the name Serendipity (榜上佳婿). Starring Wang Ziqi and Lu Yuxiao—who you might remember as the supporting couple with way-too-little screen time in The Longest Promise—the two are finally leading their own show.
And let’s just say, they’re not playing it safe.
The Tencent-produced historical mystery-romance drops tonight, 25 April 2025, at 6pm. Yes, surprise premiere confirmed just hours before launch. Classic Tencent move.
The drama kicks off with one of those "wait, what?!" set-ups.
Wang Ziqi plays Lu Chang, who rescues a badly injured Jian Mingshu (Lu Yuxiao) after she falls off a cliff—and wakes up with zero memory.

Lu Chang then casually claims to be her brother (as one does) to protect her… except he’s very much in love with her.
So yes, we’re starting off with a fake sibling situation, buried feelings, and an identity crisis the size of the Great Wall.
But there’s more.
Turns out Jian Mingshu is the sole survivor of a massacre that wiped out her family.
With no memories and nowhere to go, she journeys with Lu Chang to the capital to take the imperial exam (classic).
As they face political power plays, buried secrets and a tangled web of rivalries, Mingshu starts to get flashes of her past—just as a second love interest appears.
Enter Wang Hongyi as Song Qingshi, a charismatic scholar-warrior type who’s also taken with Mingshu.
Yep, it’s a full-on love triangle with a side of revenge, ambition, and hidden agendas.
All wrapped up in rich period costumes, misty forests, and very intense staring.
Adapted from Luo Ri Qiang Wei’s novel The Noble Son-in-Law, Serendipity leans into its dramatic roots with layered intrigue and slow-burn romance.

Expect sword fights, court politics, family vendettas, and those lines you know are going to hit hard on Weibo like:
“Revenge—do you seek redemption, or will you lose yourself in it?”
“Ambition—do you scorn the world, or are you simply chasing your next move?”
