After blowing up screens last December in Blossom, Meng Ziyi is back with another drama that sounds like a sequel but totally isn’t—Blossoms of Power.
Don’t be fooled by the title though, this one’s got its own flair.
The best part?
She’s reuniting with He Yu, her former co-star who briefly popped up in Blossom as the younger emperor.
This time around, He Yu’s not just a flashback character.
The 28-year-old is stepping up big time as the male lead, taking centre stage opposite Meng Ziyi.
The two had already proven they’ve got good chemistry back in The Legend of Heroes: Nine Yin True Sutra, so expectations are pretty high.
He Yu’s also fresh off wrapping Speed and Love with the ever-popular Esther Yu Shuxin, making this his second major drama of the year.
For Meng Ziyi, this is her first big project after finally getting her shine as a female lead, so Blossoms of Power could be a make-or-break moment.

But the biggest surprise of all?
Jeremy Xu Zhengxi is back. Yep, the man himself—known for his broody roles and killer charisma—is stepping back onto the scene after a year-long break.
And it’s not just a quiet comeback either. He was spotted grinning at the opening ceremony for the drama, looking properly chuffed to be back at work.
Turns out, Jeremy had taken a full year off to care for his sick father, a decision he said gave him two of life’s biggest blessings: precious time with family, and the chance to read the script that brought him back to set.
He got a bit emotional, calling his return to Hengdian “one of the happiest moments” in his life.
The drama’s stacked with a colourful cast too.
Alongside Meng Ziyi and He Yu, we’ve got Fan Shuaiqi, Lai Weiming, Lin Ziye, and Dong Zifan.
And they’re not alone—there are invited stars like Ye Zuxin and Snow Kong, with special appearances from the likes of Peter Ho, Zhang Yao, and Zhang Junning.
To top it off, there are friendly cameos from Gao Weiguang, Yumiko Cheng, Chen Heyi, Qiu Xinzhi, Tian Lei, and Eden Zhao Zhiwei. So yeah, it’s basically an all-star gathering.
Plot-wise, Blossoms of Power is giving drama, romance, and that classic palace tension.
He Yu plays a crown prince who’s sickly on the outside but sharp as a blade on the inside.
Meng Ziyi’s character is a talented perfume master sent to marry him. The two end up joining forces—and, of course, catching feelings.
With all this buzz, strong cast chemistry, and a solid plot, Blossoms of Power might just become another fan favourite.
