Wang Xiaofei Mourns Barbie Hsu, Netizens Call It a Stunt

Ex-Husband Mourns Barbie Hsu, Netizens Call It a Stunt

Barbie Hsu's sudden passing on 2 February from flu complications in Japan left fans and the entertainment world in shock.

Among the reactions was her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, whose visible grief sparked heated debate online.

Wang Xiaofei flew to Taiwan on 3 February after learning the tragic news.

Arriving at the airport with red, teary eyes, he briefly addressed the media, pleading, “Please say good things about her.”

Later, he was spotted walking alone in the rain through Taipei for about half an hour before heading home.

He occasionally nodded at cameras, a gesture some interpreted as heartfelt sorrow, while others called it unnecessary theatrics.

One netizen questioned, “Why walk in the rain? Doesn’t he have a car?”

The dramatic display stirred divided opinions, with some supporting his actions and others dismissing them as a publicity stunt.

On 4 February, eagle-eyed netizens spotted emotional comments left by Wang Xiaofei under an old variety show clip featuring him and Barbie Hsu.

He wrote, “My wife, I miss you so much,” adding, “It should’ve been me who died.”

These comments were soon deleted, fuelling speculation about his motives.

Adding to the drama, an alleged letter from Wang to Barbie surfaced online.

The poetic language reminisced about their past and promised a reunion in another life. But many doubted its authenticity.

“This isn’t how Wang Xiaofei writes,” one Weibo user remarked.

Amid the chaos, Wang’s ex-girlfriend Zhang Yingying entered the conversation, accusing him of leveraging his “faithful husband” image for sympathy.

Zhang also revealed how Barbie sacrificed for Wang during their marriage, from eating meat despite being vegetarian to financially supporting his family.

Zhang didn’t hold back, claiming, “After everything he put her through, now he says, ‘I miss you’? How long will this act go on?”

As discussions rage online, Wang Xiaofei remains under scrutiny, with unresolved legal disputes over spousal support adding fuel to the fire.
