One fan remarked, "His ability to convey so much through his eyes is unbelievable."
However, not everyone is thrilled. Some critics on Douban have slammed the pacing and claimed the scenes feel disconnected.
"The transitions are confusing, jumping randomly from one place to another," noted a viewer.
A few also criticised the chemistry between the leads, with one person calling their interactions "stiff and unnatural."
Complaints about clichéd dialogue and shallow character depth also surfaced.
Despite its flaws, The White Olive Tree has undeniably captured attention, thanks to its emotional highs and stunning performances. Whether it can address its storytelling issues and win over the critics remains to be seen.
