Japanese actress Ito Sairi, 30, has announced her marriage to renowned playwright Horai Ryuta, 48, during her radio programme "Ito Sairi’s Saireek Channel".
The couple, who began dating in 2022, registered their marriage at the end of last year, according to her agency. Ito confirmed that she is not pregnant.
Reflecting on their relationship, Ito Sairi shared that she admired Horai’s work long before meeting him.
Their first professional collaboration occurred in 2021, during a stage play where Horai served as the writer and director.
A dinner meeting with her manager and agency head became the turning point, leading to a closer bond.
Sairi Ito, who debuted as a child actress in 2003, gained fame through hit dramas like The Queen's Classroom and Legal High.
Most recently, she starred in NHK's morning drama Madam Judge and hosted the 2024 NHK Red and White Song Contest.
Fans and co-stars, including actress Sakai Koharu, have showered the couple with congratulations.
Sakai, who collaborated with Ito on Madam Judge, appeared on the radio show to offer tearful blessings.
