JKT48’s Shihainin Melody Nurramdhani and Vice-Shihainin Shani Indira Natio recently shed light on the group's much-discussed ‘Golden Rules’ regarding dating, which apply strictly to all members.
The no-dating policy is a core part of JKT48’s image, and any breach of these rules has serious consequences.
“When a member breaks the rules, the first step is to apologise in front of fans at the Theatre,” Melody explained.
This public apology is a way to show respect to the fans and uphold the integrity of the group.
If a violation is serious enough, the member may face suspension.
Shani further elaborated, "Suspended members aren't sidelined completely; they can assist the staff internally, helping with tasks like managing wardrobe or packing merchandise."
Punishments aren’t one-size-fits-all, though. Each incident is judged individually.
"Every case is different. We decide the punishment based on the circumstances, but the focus is always on accountability," Melody added.
While these rules might seem strict, both Melody and Shani agree that they are in place to protect the group’s professional image and keep members focused on their responsibilities.
“It’s about guiding them, not controlling them,” Melody said, emphasizing the balance between discipline and support.
