AKB48 Bringing the Party to Shanghai This September for 20th Anniversary Tour |
It’s official — AKB48 are heading back to China for the first time in over a decade, and they’re doing it in style.
As part of their 20th anniversary celebration, Japan’s iconic idol group has announced that the AKB48 20th Year Live Tour 2025 “PARTY ga Hajimaru yo” will be making a stop in Shanghai, China, this 26–27 September 2025.
The concerts will be held at the Rainbow Hall EH inside the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) — a venue known for hosting large-scale international events.
The big reveal was made during the TIF ASIA TOUR 2025 event in Shanghai on 14 June, sending fans into a frenzy as the group confirmed their return to the city after more than ten years.

The last time AKB48 held a live concert in Shanghai was way back in 2011, long before the formation of their now-independent sister group, SNH48.
What makes this even more exciting? All active members of AKB48 are set to perform — yes, the whole gang. It’s shaping up to be an unforgettable weekend for Chinese fans who’ve been waiting years for a moment like this.
The theme this time is “The party has only just begun”, a fitting nod to the group’s enduring legacy and their forward-looking energy.

Now, with the upcoming China dates locked in, the party’s crossing borders — and AKB48 are ready to turn up the energy for their long-time supporters abroad.
Whether you’ve been following them since the Akihabara theatre days or you’re just now discovering the magic of 48G, this is one stop on the tour you won’t want to miss.
