The fate of Angela and Jennifer becomes the biggest unanswered question in Average Joe Season 2, after Amina turns Joe’s family into leverage and seemingly orders their deaths. Joe hears gunshots during a tense phone call, but the series never actually shows what happened to either woman. That missing visual confirmation matters, especially for a show that has already used an apparent gunshot death to pull a very convincing trick.
Joe’s trip to South Africa begins because he believes someone has arranged surveillance around Angela and Jennifer. What he eventually learns is considerably messier: the danger surrounding his family was connected to his father Teddy, who is still alive and has ended up in the custody of crime boss Sipho. Joe manages to deal with that situation and starts looking towards home, hoping to repair what remains of his relationship with his family.
Unfortunately, Joe's problems apparently did not book a return flight with him. Amina, an Afghan mob figure connected to Sipho and the missing heroin, soon becomes the next major threat. She has a direct interest in recovering the drugs and quickly realises that Joe's wife and daughter are the easiest way to force him into giving up Teddy's stash.
The situation gets even more complicated when Joe finally discovers the hidden warehouse containing Teddy's stolen heroin, cash, gold bars and an Aston Martin. Cathy also finds the location and arrives armed, hoping to take the fortune for herself. Joe has already anticipated trouble and brings Touch and Leon along, turning the warehouse into exactly the sort of meeting where absolutely nobody seems interested in having a quiet conversation.
Rather than keep the drugs and become involved in the criminal business himself, Joe proposes a deal. Cathy can take the heroin, while Joe and his friends split the remaining valuables. It is a surprisingly practical solution considering the number of guns involved, and for a moment it looks as though everyone might actually walk away satisfied.
Then Amina calls.
Her connection to the missing heroin makes Joe's discovery far more dangerous than he initially realises. She had worked with Sipho and was behind the pressure that pushed him to pursue Teddy and recover the drugs. With Sipho no longer controlling the situation, Amina takes responsibility for finding the missing stash herself.
She also has enough reach to get past the protection surrounding Angela and Jennifer. Once her men have the two women at gunpoint, Amina calls Joe and demands the location of the heroin. Joe immediately understands that handing over the address could solve one problem while creating another. There is no guarantee Amina would release his family after getting what she wants.
Cathy, meanwhile, has her own weapon trained on Joe and makes it clear that giving Amina the information is not an option. Joe is therefore caught between two threats, with Angela and Jennifer's lives hanging over the conversation. His hesitation eventually frustrates Amina.
She decides not to wait.
Amina orders her men to kill Angela and Jennifer, and Joe hears what appear to be gunshots over the phone. On the surface, that sounds like a definitive answer. The problem is that Average Joe does not actually show the killings.
That distinction is important. The series gives viewers the sound of gunfire but no bodies, no aftermath and no direct confirmation that either Angela or Jennifer has died. In television terms, that is a rather suspicious amount of missing paperwork for what should be two very significant deaths.
There is also a clear reason to question what Joe hears. Average Joe has already used a similar fake-out involving Touch. The first season finale leaves viewers believing that Touch has died after an apparent gunshot, only for the following season to reveal that the death was staged as a misdirection and that he survived.
That previous twist makes it difficult to treat the latest gunshots as unquestionable proof. Amina could genuinely have ordered the executions, but the scene could also be designed to make Joe believe his family has been killed without immediately confirming it to the audience. Keeping Angela and Jennifer alive would give the story plenty of room to continue the conflict while preserving Amina's threat.
So, are Angela and Jennifer dead in Average Joe? Not definitively. The ending strongly suggests that Amina's men have shot them, but the series stops short of visually confirming their deaths. At this stage, their fate is deliberately left ambiguous rather than conclusively resolved.
Even if the women survive, however, that does not mean the danger has disappeared. Amina now knows exactly how much leverage Joe's family gives her, and the missing heroin remains a problem that is unlikely to politely vanish into the background. Joe may have survived Teddy, Sipho and the warehouse showdown, but getting back to a normal family life is looking increasingly optimistic.
My take is that the lack of a confirmed death feels deliberate rather than accidental. If Average Joe really wanted Angela and Jennifer gone, there were much clearer ways to show it. Instead, the series gives us exactly enough information to make Joe panic while leaving viewers staring at an empty space where the answer should be. The Touch twist also makes the fake-out theory difficult to dismiss.
At the same time, pretending the danger is harmless would be a mistake because Amina has already demonstrated that she can reach the family. The smartest reading is that their survival remains possible, but the threat is very real. Basically, Joe has once again discovered that solving one criminal mess only unlocks the next one. If the women are alive, the next chapter could become even more complicated. If they are dead, the consequences for Joe would be enormous.
