“The rumour circulating online is misleading. It was simply a normal gathering among friends that day and all other rumours are also untrue. The artist is currently single. We hope everyone can view this situation in a rational manner,” the statement said.
Shortly afterwards, Zhou Yiran Studio issued a nearly identical response, also stressing that the dinner was merely a casual gathering between friends and confirming that the actor is currently single.

Some fans immediately entered full “they look good together” mode, treating the rumour like an unofficial casting announcement for a romance drama.
The situation also revived memories of previous relationship speculation involving Bai Lu, including older rumours linking her with actor Zhang Linghe, which were similarly denied at the time.
That history only added more fuel to online discussions, with some commenters arguing that audiences have become overly invested in pairing actors together based purely on screen chemistry and edited fan videos.
