Liu Yuning has had enough of the internet detective club. The actor and singer went trending on Weibo after old dating rumours linking him to Song Zuer resurfaced yet again, prompting him to issue a blunt public response.

On 23 April, he posted six direct words that cut through the noise: “It never ends. Don’t spread rumours.” Short, sharp and clearly written by someone tired of strangers inspecting flooring patterns for sport.

The renewed speculation arrived after users began revisiting past social media posts and old fan-circulated clips, attempting to stitch together a romance narrative from household details, matching timelines and a great deal of imagination. In classic celebrity rumour fashion, ordinary furniture suddenly became headline material.

Liu Yuning Firm Reply to Song Zuer Dating Talk Dominates Weibo

One of the most talked-about claims involved a photo previously shared by Song Zuer in 2018 that showed part of her home.

Users later compared it with a 2023 video from Liu Yuning, featuring his pet dog, and decided the flooring looked similar. Yes, flooring. Not matching rings, not official statements, not hand-holding in public — tiles.

From there, the theory reportedly expanded to chair legs, room layouts and background details. At that point, interior designers may have had more authority than entertainment bloggers.

Still, online speculation spread quickly, proving once again that the internet can turn laminate patterns into front-page gossip.

Liu Yuning Denial of Song Zuer Dating Claims Hits Weibo Hot Search

The rumour trail actually began earlier with claims surrounding an alleged secondary account said to belong to Song Zuer

Posts from that account were linked by some users to Liu Yuning, especially after the pair worked together on drama The Prisoner of Beauty (折腰).

However, Song Zuer’s side had already denied that the account belonged to her and stated the pair were simply close friends.

Other so-called clues also made the rounds, including claims the two visited Sanya around a similar time, posts from friends later edited or removed, and speculation that a woman resembling Song Zuer attended one of Liu Yuning’s concerts.

In other words, the usual internet formula: coincidence plus confidence equals rumour.

This time, however, Liu Yuning chose not to ignore it. His direct denial quickly shot onto trending charts, with many fans praising the no-nonsense tone.

Liu Yuning Clears Up Song Zuer Dating Gossip in Viral Statement

Supporters commented that false stories should not be repeated, while others said his calm but firm wording was the cleanest way to handle the situation.

Not everyone reacted the same way. Some netizens argued celebrity rumours often return because unanswered stories leave room for more guessing. Others said the public should stop treating every shared city visit or matching décor as evidence of secret relationships. Fair point. Millions of people own similar chairs.

The renewed attention also brought back discussion of Liu Yuning’s earlier openness about his private life.

After becoming widely known, he previously acknowledged a past marriage and said he no longer had contact with his former partner, while asking the public not to disturb her life. That honesty earned respect from many observers at the time.

As things stand, Song Zuer’s side has not issued a fresh response to this latest round of speculation. For now, the clearest statement on record belongs to Liu Yuning, and it was only six words long.

Will that finally end the story, or will Weibo detectives return with fresh curtain analysis next week? Let us know where you stand — fair denial, or will the rumours keep circling anyway?
