There’s a fresh C-drama on the way and it’s looking proper promising. The streaming platform Youku has officially announced that production on their upcoming romantic serial Irreplaceable (无可替代) has wrapped.

The team marked the occasion with a sweet social media post showing Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun holding bouquets, smiling for the cameras — a little sign that the shooting days are done and the post-production journey is now underway.

Zhao Jinmai, who’s already done some sterling work in dramas like A Little Thing Called First Love and Reset, is teaming up with Wei Daxun — you’ll know him from hits like About Is Love and My Strange Friend. Together, they make for a pairing that’s officially got fans buzzing.

On the storyline front: the drama reportedly centres around themes of love, sacrifice and emotional growth.

C-Drama Irreplaceable Finishes Filming — Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun Confirm as Lead Couple

Zhao Jinmai plays a young woman who’s tough, independent and determined not to be “replaced” in anyone’s life.

Wei Daxun portrays a warm, caring man who becomes her guide and partner through the ups and downs of their careers and feelings.

Think mentor-meets-colleague-turns-romantic interest.

More specifically, the plot kicks off with Xu Chi (Zhao’s character) witnessing her mother’s tragic decision after a divorce, which inspires Xu Chi to vow never to be the weak link.

She hustles her way — fresh out of an ordinary college — into becoming a standout professional consultant.

Then there’s Ye Xin Zhi (Wei’s character), an elite industry partner who’s been framed by his boss early on.

He ropes Xu Chi in as his assistant and slowly becomes her teacher, friend and maybe something more.

Once they each hit their career goals, fate throws a new curveball: Ye Xin Zhi faces major career turbulence and Xu Chi is up for a top-management promotion.

In that moment of truth — which path will they pick? Their relationship, dreams and futures all hang in the balance.

As for “when can we watch it?” — nice and simple: no firm drop date yet.

The official announcement said the platform would reveal updates in the coming weeks.

Most folks are betting the actual airing will happen by January 2026 at the latest.

Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun Wrap Filming for New Youku Romance Drama Irreplaceable

Why this one might be a big deal

Two well-known leads who carry cred: Zhao Jinmai has already proven she can anchor a show; Wei Daxun brings the charm and experience.

A workplace-meets-romance angle tends to resonate nowadays — career ambitions, power dynamics, emotional vulnerability.

Platform backing: Youku’s production signal suggests it’s not a small-time project.

The subject matter touches on real-life issues (loss, trauma, self-worth) which could give it more depth than your run-of-the-mill romantic fluff.

What to keep an eye on

Teaser/trailer drop: when the first visuals hit, keep your ears open for screenshots and social buzz.

Official premiere date: once Youku announces, timetable your binge.

Sub / dub availability: given your readership across Malaysia, Singapore and Japan, check if international regions will get it with subs (or via other platforms).

Behind-the-scenes/interviews: often these give early hints on tone, chemistry and production quality.
