Nogizaka46’s Yakubo Mio has officially announced her graduation from the group, marking the end of her seven-year idol journey.

The 23-year-old made the announcement through her personal blog today, revealing that her final day with the group will be 31 December 2025.

Her last single as a member will be Biryani,” Nogizaka46’s upcoming 40th single, scheduled for release on 26 November

The release will serve as her final participation in group activities before she steps away from the idol spotlight.

Seven Years, One Dream

Yakubo joined Nogizaka46 back in 2018 as part of the group’s fourth generation, stepping onto the stage during the “4th Gen Omitaikai” event at Nippon Budokan.

Known for her gentle, sincere personality and close connection with fans, she gradually grew from a shy newcomer into one of the group’s most quietly consistent members.

Now, after years of performing, radio appearances, and juggling her studies — she graduated from university earlier this year — Yakubo Mio says it feels like the right moment to move on.

“Kikkake” Sparked the Decision

In her blog post, Yakubo explained that singing Nogizaka46’s song “Kikkake” gave her the clarity she needed.

“When I sang that song, I finally understood what it means to live true to yourself — to follow what your heart says, even on impulse,” she wrote.

She added that she’s found new things she wants to do and will continue to share her thoughts and creative work even after leaving the group:

“I’ll keep expressing myself and trying new things. Once they take shape, I’ll tell everyone about it.”

“I’ll Savour This Dream Till the End”

In classic Mio fashion, her announcement closed with warmth and gratitude:

“Until today, it’s felt like I’ve been living inside a dream. I’ll savour this dream fully until the very last day.”

Her words struck a chord with fans who’ve watched her grow from the timid 16-year-old at debut into a poised young woman ready for her next step.

What’s Next for Mio Yakubo?

While she hasn’t detailed her post-Nogizaka plans, Yakubo hinted at continuing creative work, possibly in media or digital content.

Fans expect more updates after her graduation ceremony at the end of the year.

Until then, she’ll be performing as part of Nogizaka46’s year-end promotions for “Biryani” — one last chapter before closing the book on her idol era.
