After a month-long pause, fans hoping for HKT48’s long-awaited return to the stage will have to wait a little longer.

The Hakata-based idol group officially announced on 12 October that all scheduled theatre performances between 13 and 18 October have been cancelled, citing internal restructuring and preparation delays.

According to the official statement on HKT48’s website, the decision was made following a staff structure change within the theatre’s operations team.

The management explained that the newly reorganised team still needed more time to stabilise before reopening.

We judged that proceeding with the shows without full preparation could cause inconvenience to the audience. As difficult as it is, we’ve decided to cancel the performances,” the announcement read.

This marks the second month of inactivity for HKT48’s theatre, which last held a live show on 15 September

The October comeback was meant to celebrate the return of regular performances after internal adjustments, but those plans have now been scrapped.

Management also expressed sincere apologies to fans for the repeated postponement, saying:

Due to our mismanagement, we’ve disappointed the supporters who have always been waiting for us. We deeply apologise for this situation.”

Following the official post, several members took to X (formerly Twitter) to personally apologise.

Team H captain Toyonaga Aki (25) wrote that the team couldn’t deliver a show they weren’t fully ready for, especially with graduation members involved, emphasising that the theatre is their “origin” and they don’t want to compromise its quality.

We’ll give our best so that when we’re finally back, it’ll be something we can be proud of. Please keep supporting HKT48,” she added.

Why HKT48 Theatre Is Still Closed Amid Staff Shake-Up Issues

For fans, the closure hits emotionally — HKT48’s theatre has long been a symbol of their roots.

It took nine years of effort from the group’s debut in 2011 before finally opening their dedicated theatre space in 2020.

Since then, it’s served as both a training ground and home base for generations of members.

However, since late September 2025, the venue has been closed for operational reasons, sparking speculation among fans about its long-term future.

With the latest cancellation, some worry this may hint at deeper structural issues within management.

While there’s still no fixed reopening date, HKT48 stated they’ll release an update on 19 October about the theatre’s future schedule.

In the meantime, the theatre lobby remains open for limited visiting hours — a small consolation for fans still hoping to reconnect with the group’s live spirit.

For now, supporters can only wait and trust that when the curtain finally rises again, HKT48’s return to their home stage will be worth the wait.
