≠ME’s LakeTown Event Halted After Assault Incident — Two Suspects Detained

Police in Saitama have arrested two men following a violent altercation that broke out during idol group ≠ME’s single release event at Koshigaya LakeTown back in April.

ICYMI: ≠ME Incident

The suspects — a 26-year-old self-proclaimed university student from Yokohama and a 30-year-old company employee from Tokyo — were detained on charges of assault and obstruction of business

They are accused of pinning down and stomping on a male security staff member, leaving him with injuries that required roughly two weeks to recover.

According to police, the chaos erupted around 10 a.m. on 29 April, when about 20 people stormed the CD sales tent, causing panic among staff and attendees.

The violence prompted organisers to immediately cancel the event for everyone’s safety.

Investigators traced the suspects using CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, identifying their direct involvement in the assault.

Authorities believe other individuals were also involved and are now expanding their probe to identify additional accomplices linked to the disruption.

The two men’s exact motives remain unclear, and police have not disclosed whether they have admitted to the allegations.

The incident has left fans disappointed, as what was meant to be a cheerful celebration of ≠ME’s latest single ended in confusion and distress.

Police say their investigation is still ongoing, focusing on the larger group of participants who sparked the violence at the otherwise peaceful idol event.
