“Mobunoderera” Meets Mayhem – ≠ME’s Release Event Abruptly Cancelled Following Violent Incident (Yahoo) |
Just as fans were gearing up for an afternoon of music, handshakes and idol smiles, things took a shocking turn at ノットイコールミー; Not Equal Me aka ≠ME’s 10th single release event in Saitama.
The special live event, meant to celebrate “Mobunoderera / Kamisama no Iutoori!” (out 30 April), was cancelled at the very last minute after a violent incident broke out involving venue staff — and yes, the police had to get involved.
The group was set to perform at the outdoor stage in the G car park of Aeon LakeTown Mori on the 29th, with a mini-live scheduled for 2PM.
But chaos erupted during the distribution of participation tickets, with footage later surfacing online showing men shouting aggressively, reportedly arguing over “saizen kanri” — basically, fans jostling for control of front-row positions.

Violence Shuts Down ≠ME's Special Event – Group Promises Tougher Security Ahead |
Things escalated fast and turned physical, leading to one or more staff members being assaulted.
The incident wasn’t just a harmless scuffle either.
It got serious enough for police to step in, and after discussions between law enforcement, venue management, and the record label, organisers made the tough call to pull the plug — all for the safety of the fans, staff, and members.

The stage setup was swiftly dismantled while the announcement went out on the official site, offering a sincere apology to fans who’d made the trip.
Interestingly, it appears the person responsible might not have even been a fan of ≠ME, sparking debate online about whether this was more like a targeted disruption than your usual idol fandom drama.
Some fans pointed out warning posts had been made beforehand, almost like the attacker was planning it.
The management’s official statement was crystal clear: the perpetrator has been reported to the police and will be permanently banned from any and all future events involving ≠ME or their company’s acts.
They also warned that any future violent or disruptive acts will be dealt with firmly, both criminally and civilly.
It’s a gut-punch for fans, especially considering how tight the idol-fan connection is at these release events.
And now there’s speculation that more events could get cancelled altogether if safety can’t be guaranteed.
For now, ≠ME’s 10th single still drops as planned on the 30th, but this shocking incident has cast a shadow over what should have been a happy celebration.
An update:
Regarding the violent incident at ≠ME’s release event, more details are coming to light.
It appears the cause was a member of the front-row management group, who was allegedly involved in three-timing relationships with fans from Jams Collection and Peel The Apple.

He reportedly got into trouble with both fans and staff, seemingly trying to use the commotion as a chance to snag priority entry passes and send-off tickets.
As of now, the “three-timing guy” hasn’t been caught.
