KLP48 Unveils 2nd Generation Members Including One from Kazakhstan

KLP48 Gen 2 Debut: 13 Fresh Idols From Four Different Countries

KLP48 officially unveiled its long-awaited 2nd Generation members on September 24 — a line-up of 13 new idols hailing from four different countries. 

With this new batch, the Kuala Lumpur-based sister group of AKB48 is pushing the 48 Group’s international identity to new heights.

Among the recruits are seven Malaysians (Maia, Sharleez, Shu Zhen, Tara, Alice, Isabel, and Joo), four Indonesians (Cindy, Diva, Hana, and Kei), one Japanese (Mashiro), and — making history — one Kazakhstani, Aisha.

Aisha in particular has been making headlines as the very first idol from Kazakhstan to ever join the 48 Group network. 

Her addition signals a fresh milestone for the franchise, which has traditionally drawn members from Japan and Southeast Asia.

Former Idols Bring Experience

This generation isn’t just fresh talent — several members already come with idol experience.

• Cindy, known previously under the stage name Icy, was a part of Indonesia’s UpGirls.

• Diva has roots in Twenty Nine Teens and also UpGirls.

• Mashiro, meanwhile, is a former member of Japanese idol group WONDER∞WANDER.

These familiar names bring a touch of polish to the otherwise rookie line-up, promising strong performances from the get-go.

With 7 Malaysians forming the majority, supported by Indonesian, Japanese, and Kazakh members, KLP48’s new generation is one of the most internationally diverse groups in 48 history. 

Fans are already buzzing online, noting that this mix of cultural backgrounds could give KLP48 a unique flavour within the franchise.

The group themselves wasted no time introducing their personalities, performing their jikoshoukai (self-introductions) as official KLP48 members during the announcement.

For the global 48 fandom, this is more than just a generation debut. 

It’s proof that the “idols you can meet” concept is still evolving and expanding into unexpected regions. 

Aisha’s debut as the first Kazakhstani idol under the 48 umbrella is likely to draw attention far beyond Southeast Asia.

With four Indonesians, one Japanese, one Kazakh, and a strong Malaysian base, KLP48’s 2nd Generation looks set to spice up the franchise with new energy, diverse cultural flair, and potential international reach.
